In August, the average price of EU eggs increased by 1.2% m-o-m and 54.4% y-o-y, to EUR 1,883/MT, primarily
driven by a rise in demand and high feed prices. Despite a recent downward trend in feed grain prices, feed costs
remain elevated y-o-y. This is expected to keep EU egg prices firm in the short term.
The average price of US eggs fell by 12.8% m-o-m, to USc 15.1/egg, in August due to an upward revision in the
Q3 egg production. The lack of any Avian Influenza detections in egg-layer facilities since early June, and the
gradual building back of the flocks lost earlier in the outbreak, should also support larger inventories in the coming
months. However, the price remained high 128% y-o-y with firm demand for eggs from the processing sector.
