6V24 - Banana (S Ame) mp Chic US hi
The Mintec price of US bananas declined by 10.5% m-o-m, to USD 0.61/lbs, in August 2022, in line with historical
trends. This follows February's peak in prices. Despite the recent drop in prices, they remain firm y-o-y (+15.7%)
due to higher production costs.
The Mintec price of EU bananas (from Columbia) rose by 25.9% m-o-m to EUR 992.8/MT, and by 15.9% y-o-y in
August 2022. According to market sources, the price has risen due to high competition for import licenses, a
reduced supply of bananas from protected sources and higher costs of shipping and transportation. A combination
of these increased input costs are raising concerns over the sector's financial sustainability if high production costs
are not passed on to consumers.

6V95 - Grapes red (any) mp US
The Mintec price of US red grapes rose by 13.1% m-o-m to USD 1.6/lbs in August 2022 due to a seasonal uptick
in demand. The USDA forecasts a rise in US production of 9% y-o-y. Moreover, market participants have reported
a drop in consumer demand for table grapes in the US. A large supply in the market, coupled with weak demand, is
weighing on prices.
