After a brief dip in April, the Norwegian salmon price continued its upward trend of 2021, respectively increasing by
NOK 8.2/kg (+13.4%) m-o-m and NOK 11.1/kg (+18.9%) y-o-y in May 2021 to average NOK 69.7/kg for the
month. The latest price was the highest monthly average since January 2021, supported by the comparatively
tighter global supply. Improving levels of European retail demand, such as France re-opening fresh fish counters,
and restaurants re-opening, is also price-supportive.

The May 2021 average monthly price of Chilean farmed salmon reached the highest level recorded since Mintec
starting tracking the series in February 2012. At USD 8.29, the latest price average surpassed the 21-month high of
April 2021 by USD 1.8/kg (+27.7%) m-o-m, while also gaining USD 3.8/kg (+99.3%) y-o-y, The upward price
momentum of 2021 reflects tight Chilean supply, caused by high fish mortality rates, in conjunction with improved
demand sentiment, most notably, strong export demand to the US, Chile's largest salmon market.
