RZ48 - Pear mp AR
The Mintec price of Argentinian pears rose by 33.7% y-o-y to ARS 60.6/kg in May 2021. This price increase can
be attributed to rising input costs, amid a stable pear supply (projected at 600,000 tonnes). Rising costs of labour,
transport and energy have significantly altered the dynamics and pricing of the pear market over the last 18 months.
The average price in 2021 has been ARS 66.1/kg compared to ARS 27.7/kg in 2019.
The Mintec price of Chinese pears rose by 7.1% y-o-y to CNY 6,077/MT in May 2021. The price increase is due
to tighter Chinese pear supplies. China's pear production for the 2020/21 marketing year is expected to decline by
1.3 million tonnes y-o-y to 16 million tonnes, due to lower production in Hebei province, the largest pear producing
region.

EU pear- 7Z11 & 7R56
The EU pear price fell by 41.7% y-o-y to EUR 1,265/MT in May 2021. The price decline can be attributed to lower
retail demand compared to the peak of coronavirus-related lockdown restrictions (Q2 2020). In addition, pear
supply across Europe has been robust over the previous year. EU pear production for the 2020/21 MY is forecast
to reach 2.3 million tonnes, up by 0.28 million tonnes y-o-y.
