US banana prices increased by 7.7% m-o-m and 7.3% y-o-y to USD 1,157.4/MT in May 2021. The price
increase can be attributed to firm demand, due to COVID-19. US banana prices have been further influenced by
higher prices in key import markets (Ecuador and Costa Rica).
EU banana prices rose by 11.4% y-o-y to EUR 907.5MT in May 2021, in line with lower EU production and higher
import costs from Latin America, due to firm shipping rates. EU banana production is expected to fall by 4% y-o-y,
to 0.6 million tonnes, for the 2020/21 season.

The Mintec price of US grapes increased by 9.8% m-o-m and 22.3% y-o-y to USD 3.84/kg in May 2021. This can
be attributed to an increase in retail demand, following a period of low sales during the peak of COVID-19-related
lockdown restrictions (Q2 2020).

LG83 - Grapes whs CL
Chilean grape prices rose by 12.9% y-o-y to CPL 564.29/kg in May 2021, in line with tighter supplies due to
recurring droughts. To mitigate the drought impact, Chilean growers have invested in a range of strategies and
techniques, including installing drip irrigation systems. Despite this investment, Chilean grape production is
forecast to be flat y-o-y at 785,000 tonnes for the 2020/21 MY.
