Trading in India's Guntur market resumed in the second half of May, with chilli prices initially
dropping significantly in the opening trading sessions, on the back of pandemic-related demand
uncertainty. However, prices rebounded in June, up 16% m-o-m (+14% y-o-y) at USD 200/100kg, as
the de-escalation of COVID-19 spurred new buying interest. The chilli Rabi harvest wrapped up in
India in May and the output is expected to increase by about 5-15% y-o-y.
