The June average price of French kraftliner 175gr was up 6.3% m-o-m and 24% y-o-y at EUR 847/MT
on the back of solid demand outstripping supply. According to market participants, kraftliner remain
the scarcest type of corrugated case material, and delivery delays continued.
The French testliner 2 average price rose by 4.3% m-o-m and was up 34.6% y-o-y at EUR 720/MT in
June, driven by higher recovered paper grade prices, amid strong demand and limited supply
availability of testliner grades.
Semi-chemical fluting prices rose in June to EUR 812/MT, up 3.8% m-o-m and 10.8% y-o-y driven by
brisk demand and high raw material costs. According to market participants, some fluting suppliers
have pushed back on maintenance work until the autumn.
The continued increase in lead times, robust demand and minimal supply caused GC2 and GD2
cartonboard prices to rise in June. The GD2 price rose to EUR 1,005/MT, up 4% m-o-m and 9.8% y-o-y
driven by high prices for recovered paper and longer lead times. According to market participants,
lead times for GD2 are around 12-16 weeks, while delivery times for GC2 were stretched into Q4
2021. The EU GC2 price was up 4.6% both m-o-m and y-o-y in June, at EUR 1,465/MT.
